Elbert County Fighting Noxious Weeds

Trivia

Give one of two reasons why it is advantageous for goats to have horizontally elongated pupils.

Today is the Day!

ECAA Chair-Elect Renee Burton invites you to the ribbon cutting and open house for her new insurance agency here in Elbert County, where she is happy to review your farm insurance needs. Come out to celebrate with her Friday, November 4, from 6-8pm. Her office is at 133 CR-17, Unit C2-E in Elizabeth.

Elves Needed!

We are beginning to turn our attention to community service for the holidays, and are looking for baker elves and server elves. Baker elves will make one to four dozen five-inch sugar cookies to freeze for the event. (We will supply the cutters!) Server elves will pack them into decorating kit bags and hand them out at the  Elizabeth Mayor’s Christmas Tree Lighting on December 3rd. This is a great family activity! We had so much fun last year. Sign up to volunteer at: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/ecaa-cookie-kits-for-the-elizabeth-mayors-christmas-tree-lighting-tickets-264885548807.

Spur Field Trip Postponed

The field trip to the Spur originally scheduled for next week has been postponed to 2023. The Hydro building was originally supposed to be open this month, but the opening has been delayed until next year. We will reschedule for a date when all three campus buildings are open. Watch for an announcement rescheduling the trip.

If you have announcements or classifieds that should be included in the next Roundup? Send them to news@elbertcountyagalliance.org.

Trivia Answer: Researchers have found that horizontal pupils allow for a wider field of vision than round pupils. The shape allows keeps light from above from obscuring their view of the ground so they can forage more effectively, and it gives them greater peripheral vision allowing them to watch out for predators and scan their terrain while they graze.
