ECAA Roundup 09/17/2021

September 17, 2021

It’s Time to Get Together
ECAA will hold an in-person member meeting and potluck at Casey Jones Park Pavilion on Saturday, October 16th from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Bring a beverage and bring a dish. Tables and chairs will be provided. We’ll be eating and mingling throughout, with a break for introductions, announcements, and questions at 4:30 p.m., then back to mingling and eating. Announcements will be emailed to members who cannot attend.

Trick or Treat Promotion for Your Business
Living in the countryside we don’t get visitors on Halloween. This year ECAA is giving members an opportunity to advertise their businesses at the upcoming Harvest Festival in downtown Elizabeth. And you don’t even need to leave home yourself that night. We will be handing out about 700 swag bags to the trick-or-treaters; and are opening up the opportunity for bag sponsors to include promotional materials, and candy of course, in the bags. Simply buy a sponsorship for $35 then deliver your business’ brochure and candy contribution by Friday, October 22nd. Bags will be handed out on October 30th beginning at 11:00 a.m. And of course, you are welcome to join us in handing out bags that night and see all of the happy kids in their costumes. Email execcom@elbertcountyagalliance.org for more information or to sign up.

0Harvesting Rain
In a county without surface water we are always grateful for rain, but how do we make the most of it? Thankfully there are other strategies beyond storing the 110 gallons of rainwater per household allowed under state law. This video shows how a neighborhood in Tucson, Arizona used water farming techniques to create a sustainable, edible landscape without storing water or running irrigation lines. Agricultural Future Loan Program Listening Session
The Colorado Department of Agriculture will hold listening sessions next week to gather public and stakeholder input on the rules governing the newly established Colorado Agricultural Future Loan Program. The Colorado Agricultural Future Loan Program comes as the result of SB 21-248, which appropriated up to $30 million for low interest loans and farm-to-market infrastructure loans and grants. These sessions will be specific to the loan program.
