Tomorrow: Making Great Compost
This is just a reminder that the Making Great Compost event is tomorrow, Saturday, March 12th, 2:00 p.m. at the Mercantile Hall in Elbert.

Member Meeting, Potluck, and Trivia
Meet other members, share your projects, find out what others are doing, learn about ECAA initiatives and programs, and test your agricultural knowledge. Mix, mingle, and snack before a brief member meeting, which will be followed by agricultural trivia. There will be a prize for the trivia winner. The event will be held Saturday, April 9th at the American Legion in Elizabeth. Protecting Pollinators
Colorado General Assembly is considering a new bill to protect the habitats of bees and other pollinators by restricting pesticide use. The ‘Protect Health of Pollinators And People’ bill proposes several measures to reduce and study pesticide use and its effect. Learn more about it and find a link to the bill text here.

Promotional Opportunity for Low Impact Travel Experiences
The Colorado Tourism Office is seeking to promote low-impact travel experiences, sustainability offerings, voluntourism opportunities and ways to give back in Colorado while protecting our landscapes and educating guests on how to Do Colorado Right. They are preparing a news release in advance of Earth Day. Submissions must be received by end of day March 15 to media@colorado.com.

Horse Auction
Messer Arena is hosting its 2nd Annual Horse Auction on May 28th. The nomination deadline is April 15th at horsesale@messereventcenter.com. Go to https://messereventcenter.com for more information.

Free Chick Adoptions!
Every year, classrooms in the Douglas County School District hatch chicks as part of the Douglas County Extensions 4-H Embryology program. Once the chicks have hatched, they are returned to the extension office to find loving homes. You may adopt these chicks from their office for free! There are a variety of breeds available. First come, first serve. Stop in at 410 Fairgrounds Road, Castle Rock, CO 80104 anytime during regular business hours, Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm. Call 720-733-6940 to check before you drive over.
