Raising a Gentleman Rooster
Do you have a rooster who gives you stink eye? Or maybe you’re afraid of having a rooster because you’ve heard stories. Sign up now for Raising Gentleman Roosters to learn what makes roosters do the cock-a-doodle things they do.  Whether your rooster is young or old you can become his ally instead of an intruder. Sign up at: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/258281596207.

Fancy Fur in Elbert County
Congratulations to Heather Marley and Pharoah on winning a first-place ribbon as well as Reserve Color Champion in walking fleece at Great Western Alpaca Show last week.

Military Livestock
This week’s trivia question is about hogs. What ancient warrior used pigs to counterattack elephants? Answer at the bottom.

ECAA Board Meeting
If you’re interested in joining ECAA or a member who wants to know what the board is up to you can join our next board meeting via Zoom on Thursday, May 19th at 8:00 a.m. https://us02web.zoom.us/j/84479918998?pwd=eVNTRGNOOEpIdTNjazBIcGxLL0doZz09.

Register Now for the Homestead Fair!
Join us October 8th at Casey Jones Park for the return of the Homestead Fair, where our producers and crafters will share local products. There will be music, activities, food, animals, and crafts. Vendors and sponsors can obtain more information at: https://elbertcountyagalliance.org/fair. Volunteers are welcome to join the planning committee or to assist that day.

Join the Fun, Showcase Your Business
Would you like to showcase your agriculture based business to potential customers outside of Elbert County? Volunteer to join the panel of farmers who can answer questions about raising livestock, growing, producing, and homestead skills. Send an email to Sheila.zuschek@elbertcountyagalliance.org if you are interested.

No Roundup Next Week
Sorry to be so unpredictable this month, but its planting season and apparently time for family reunions. I won’t be around to write the Roundup next week, but I’ll see you on the 20th. If you like to learn new things, share with other farmers, and would like to help out on the Roundup, you can help on a regular basis or just as needed. Just send an email to Sheila.zuschek@elbertcountyagalliance.org and we can talk about what works for you.

If you have announcements or classifieds that should be included in the next Roundup? Send them to news@elbertcountyagalliance.org.

Trivia Answer: Alexander the Great. They are also used in modern warfare to find buried landmines.
